Third Grade

Welcome!

Your child has mastered the fundamentals of First and Second Grades and is now ready to thrive through Third Grade.  This grade is a very important time in your child's education, because it's when students transition from what are known as "lower grades" to the "upper grades." Part of this transition includes moving from “learning to read” to “reading to learn information.”

A few things to look forward to in Third Grade are a STEM field trip in fall to Crane, traveling around the world in our very own classroom learning Christmas traditions, and a spring field trip to Spring Mill State Park.

Students in Third Grade will be taking IREAD-3, a state assessment that measures foundational reading standards.  IREAD-3 is given the week before Spring Break.  More information will be passed along to families as the year goes on, but please visit the links for additional information.
